Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem is advancing at the 2018 Paris Masters. With that, his chances of qualifying for the ATP Finals are improving.

Dominic Thiem is into the quarterfinals at the 2018 Paris Masters. Up next for the young Austrian tennis star is American Jack Sock. The American has struggled in men’s singles throughout much of the ATP World Tour this year so the odds are in Thiem’s favor. Despite an impressive doubles season for Sock, his singles action has not gone well. He is the 16th seed this week in Paris whereas Thiem is the sixth seed.

As the young Austrian advances, his chances of qualifying for the end of year ATP Finals in London continue to improve. A title in Paris would clinch his place at the event.

Just ahead of Thiem in the Race to London is Croatian great Marin Cilic. He remains alive at the Paris Masters but faces an extremely difficult matchup next. Taking on the surging Novak Djokovic, Cilic needs to be on his best game in the quarterfinals. Djokovic is the second seed in Paris. With top seed and prior favorite Rafael Nadal withdrawing due to injury, Nole is the player to beat. Also still alive is Swiss legend Roger Federer.

All eyes are on Dominic Thiem this week at the Paris Masters. With two spots still open for the 2018 ATP Finals in London, the young Austrian is one player vying for contention. He has qualified for the end of year event in both of his previous seasons on tour.

Next. BEST EVER: Federer or Serena?. dark

Three ATP singles titles and a solid record have put Dominic Thiem in a strong place heading toward the 2018 ATP Finals. He needs to continue playing one match at a time, but a spot in the London action is possible. Stay tuned to see how he performs in what is a fantastic field in men’s singles tennis at the Paris Masters.
