Nitto ATP World Tour Finals: Who’s In Numbers 5 – 8
With the Nitto ATP Finals a week away, all eight spots have been clinched. While the top four players, Nadal, Djokovic, Federer, and Del Potro locked in their spots weeks ago, the last four spots have been contentious. Some spots have come down to results at the Paris Masters, the final tournament before the ATP Finals.
These players may be the underdogs but, anything can happen in London. Unlike any other tour tournament, the ATP Finals has a round robin stage with the top two players of each group getting a spot in the semifinals. Let’s take a look at who will be joining the top four in London.
ATP Race to London- Rank 5. Alexander Zverev
At just 21 years old, Zverev is by far the youngest competitor at this year’s ATP Finals. In 2018, he has consistently performed at a high level taking home three titles including his third Masters 1000 title in Madrid. He also reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros, his best result to date in a major. Despite a 52-17 match record in 2018 and three Masters 1000 titles to his name, Zverev hasn’t yet lived up to his billing in the biggest moments though. Specifically, he has often lost to far lower ranked opponents in the early round of grand slams.
Last year, Zverev made his first appearance in London. He failed to qualify for the semifinals. This year, he will look to build on his previous experience and shine in London.
