Serena Williams WrestleMania appearance could be looming in the near future. Will the tennis star take her talents to the WWE?

Is a Serena Williams WrestleMania appearance possible? WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon has made statements implying that the tennis legend could be coming to the ring soon. This all comes on the heels of Williams reaching the finals at the 2018 US Open. She has played less and less on the WTA Tour since becoming a new mother so something like a WrestleMania event could make sense for the American tennis star.

According to recent reports from Yahoo Finance, McMahon has said that she loves Serena and that the “door is open” for her to join Wrestlemania. FanSided’s own Daily DDT has also reported on the speculated Ronda Rousey vs. Serena Williams WrestleMania 35 matchup.

Williams met rising WTA tennis star Naomi Osaka at the US Open this past year. Osaka rose to the occasion and knocked out the American legend in the finals, winning 6-2 6-4. The recent US Open champion appears unstoppable right now on the WTA Tour. She is one of several dozen women’s tennis players who are overtaking the likes of Williams and her sister Venus Williams. Their generation is giving way to a younger group of stars on the tour.

A Serena Williams WrestleMania appearance would be great for fans of both the WWE and tennis. The American tennis superstar is unparalleled when it comes to star power. She would easily draw a massive audience for the event.

The American tennis star has already made the Fandom 250 lists before. She is also arguably the greatest athlete in either men’s or women’s tennis to ever grace the court. Her biggest competitor in that arena has to be Roger Federer. Fans continue to debate if Federer or Williams is better.

A Serena Williams WrestleMania is still yet to be determined but the WWE has expressed an interest in bringing the sports star into the mix. She would command an audience if it happens. Check back to see if WrestleMania 35 will feature the potential Rousey vs. Serena matchup. For now in the tennis world, the likes of Simona Halep, Caroline Wozniacki, and others such as Angelique Kerber continue to dominate the WTA Tour. With Williams playing more and more intermittently, women’s tennis is reshaping itself for future generations.
