Love him or hate him, Nick Kyrgios is a top tennis player

Controversies, headlines, and sideline commentary aside, Australian Nick Kyrgios is a top tennis player in men’s singles tennis.

Love him or hate him, Nick Kyrgios is here to stay. The young Australian tennis player has made headlines in recent years for controversies both on and off the court. He has even gone as far as to say that he does not love the sport and that other players are better and more dedicated. None of that matters though. Kyrgios is already a great player and he can turn around his image if and when he would like to.

Through the 2018 ATP World Tour, the young Australian has four ATP singles titles to his name. Three of those came in 2016 when he also reached a career high men’s singles ranking of world number 13. His fourth title came in 2018 at Brisbane.

Kyrgios came in at number seven on our top ten young tennis players in men’s singles today. He is a rising star in the sport whether or not any critic says otherwise. So long as he is competing on the ATP World Tour, the young Australian is a top contender.

Nick Kyrgios is more accomplished than most players his age on the ATP World Tour.

Nearly $7 million in singles and doubles prize money have made Kyrgios a financial success in tennis too. Not only is he building an impressive resume amongst the best rising stars, but he is wining matches that count.

Kyrgios is 2-0 against Novak Djokovic, 2-3 against Rafael Nadal, and has taken one match off of Roger Federer through his 2018 play. Federer is the best of these top three tennis legends when facing Kyrgios.

Nick Kyrgios is a top player to watch on the upcoming ATP World Tour. While he is undoubtedly already an accomplished men’s singles star, he needs to keep it up if he hopes to remain in conversations with likes of Alexander Zverev and others. We can probably predict that Kyrgios will continue to make headlines and generate debate surrounding his play, but so long as he’s playing, the young Australian is someone to keep an eye on.
