2018 ATP World Tour Finishes With Djokovic, Nadal, Federer On Top
By Harry Floyd
As we wrap up the 2018 ATP World Tour, men’s singles tennis sees three familiar faces on top in Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer.
We end the 2018 ATP World Tour with Novak Djokovic at number one, Rafael Nadal at number two, and Roger Federer at number three. According to ESPN, this is the first time in ATP history that all three players have spent time at world number one during the same year.
These three players are already legends in the sport. While Djokovic closed out the second half of the year on fire, they each had their time in the spotlight this year.
Djokovic finishes the year winning two Grand Slam singles titles at the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open. Nadal does it again and takes an 11th title at Roland Garros and Federer adds another major win to his resume by tasting glory at the Australian Open. In looking at all four of the majors, it’s difficult to say which is the most impressive feat.
Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer finish 1-2-3.
Hats off to all three tennis stars. Djokovic has the momentum right now but all of men’s singles will be gunning for this fantastic trio.
Only one member of the original Big Four is absent in this conversation. That’s Andy Murray. The British veteran has struggled due to injury more than either of his former Big Four members as of late. Murray looks to bounce back though on the 2019 ATP World Tour.
After battling with Nadal and Federer throughout the 2018 ATP World Tour, Djokovic finishes in the world number one position. Despite losing to rising tennis star Alexander Zverev at the ATP Finals, Nole remains the player to beat heading into the coming year. He, along with Nadal and Federer, have made this yet another historic year in the tennis world.
