South African tennis veteran Kevin Anderson finishes what has been a career year on the ATP World Tour. Here’s a look back at his success.

Kevin Anderson has made headlines throughout the past two years in men’s singles tennis. The towering South African has rocketed up in the rankings, touching career heights. In July of 2018, the veteran became the world number five in men’s singles and he would ultimately finish the year in the world number six position.

The 2018 ATP World Tour is one that Anderson will remember forever. His momentum had been building since back in early 2017. That year, he displayed strong runs at the French Open and later at the US Open. There, he reached the finals.

This year though, Anderson would make another Grand Slam finals appearance. That would come at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships. Despite dropping the match to Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic, Anderson once again proved that he can hang with the best in the sport.

Hats off to Kevin Anderson for his 2018 ATP World Tour play.

Earlier in the year, the headlines were dominated by Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal and Swiss legend Roger Federer. Anderson was right in the mix though.

His consistency would play to his favor, earning him a spot at the end of year ATP Finals in London. The South African would advance through the Group Stage and into the semifinals, again falling to Djokovic. His play at the O2 Arena, however, was yet another overall success.

Next. BEST EVER: Federer or Serena?. dark

In 2018, Kevin Anderson took home two ATP singles titles at Vienna and in New York. It is just the first year in his career that he has won multiple titles on tour. Currently, there is no reason to think that the South African will slow down anytime soon. While Djokovic remains the player to beat as we head into the 2019 action, players such as Anderson will be looking for the upset runs at Grand Slams and other big tournaments.
