Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer is coming off of an impressive year on the ATP World Tour and now title number 100 is right around the corner.

Roger Federer notched career title number 99 in men’s singles this past year. The Swiss legend continues to defy the odds and win in the second half of his career. He is on the verge of his 100th title and there’s no reason to think he will have to wait much longer for it. Federer has historically performed well during the first few months of the ATP World Tour.

Last year, he took home his sixth career Australian Open, defending his 2017 men’s singles title at the Grand Slam. With action at Melbourne Park right around the corner, Federer could be primed to set up a title-run at the event.

The 2018 ATP World Tour saw Federer win four ATP singles titles. Those came at the Australian Open, then in Rotterdam, Stuttgart, and Basel. His year saw him battling back and forth with Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal before their friend and rival Novak Djokovic also entered the race.

Roger Federer is primed to win title #100 in early 2019.

The Serbian great went on an unprecedented run of tennis, winning back to back Grand Slams at the Wimbledon Championships and then at the US Open.

Djokovic has emerged as the world number one and player to beat heading into 2019. Both Federer and the new world number one have performed extremely well at Melbourne Park in the past. They must be considered the heavy favorites at this point. Others, such as Alexander Zverev or Marin Cilic should be thought of as outside contenders.

Next. BEST EVER: Federer or Serena?. dark

When will Roger Federer win ATP singles title number 100? The short answer is… very soon. The real answer though is that we have to wait and see. He ranks second in Open Era in terms of singles titles to just Jimmy Connors. The Swiss legend will continue chasing Connors as he prepares for the 2019 ATP World Tour.
