WTA Finals champion Elina Svitolina is OUSTED at the 2019 Australian Open. Naomi Osaka completes the victory over the Ukrainian tennis star.

Elina Sviolina remains in search of her first ever Grand Slam title as she exits the Australian Open. The current WTA Finals champion surged toward the end of 2018 and put on an impressive run this year at Melbourne Park. It is current US Open champ Naomi Osaka, however, who moves on to reach the semifinals.

Osaka knocks out Svitolina, winning their quarterfinals match in straight sets. She takes their meeting 6-4 6-1. Up next for the US Open champion is a former world number one in Karolína Plíšková. The Czech great is coming off of a massive win over American Serena Williams.

Meeting Williams in the quarters, Plíšková was fresh off of a fourth round victory over another former world number one in Garbine Muguruza. Williams gave her a run for her money though. Despite playing intermittently in the past year, the American remains one of the best tennis players in the sport. She pushed Plíšková to a three-set thriller.

Petra Kvitova takes on Danielle Collins in the semifinals. Can Collins continue her dream run?

The Czech wins 6-4 4-6 7-5 and faces the fourth seeded Osaka next. In the other two quarterfinals matches, both a rising star and a veteran great advance. The veteran, Petra Kvitova, was emotional on the courts after her win over Australia’s Ashleigh Barty. WATCH her speak to the fans following her quarterfinals win.

Kvitova takes on one of the most unexpected opponents in Danielle Collins. The young American is in the middle of a cinderella run at the 2019 Australian Open. She previously upset second seeded Angelique Kerber in the fourth round before taking down Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the quarters. Can Collins keep it up?
