Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios is off to a rocky start so far in 2019. He wins one and loses one at the Delray Beach Open this week.

Nick Kyrgios exits the 2019 Delray Beach Open after his second match this year. He loses at the hands of Radu Albot after notching an impressive opening round win. His win came against the fifth seeded John Millman. Kyrgios fought hard to earn a three set victory there.

It is Albot, however, winning in three sets during the round of 16. Action at the Delray Beach Open moves on without one of the sport’s most entertaining players.

So far on the 2019 ATP Tour, Kyrgios is yet to find his rhythm. You never quite know which Kyrgios is going to show up at any given tournament. He started the year off in Brisbane where he found himself dropping his second match to Jeremy Chardy following a strong opening round win over American Ryan Harrison.

Nick Kyrgios can rise in the rankings with one or two strong tournament runs.

Kyrgios is yet to string together a solid set of singles match wins so far on the 2019 ATP Tour. He must remedy that soon.

The young Australian’s time at Melbourne Park was short-lived as he saw a loss to Canadian tennis star Milos Raonic during his opener. Then at the 2019 Delray Beach Open, he would see a similar result to what he’s already had so far on the year.

Coming into this week, Kyrgios was the world number 64 in men’s singles on the ATP Tour. He has gone as high as the world number 13 ranking on tour and is plenty capable of getting back to that point. Men’s singles tennis, however, is not getting any easier for anyone, Kyrgios included.

Right now, Novak Djokovic continues his dominance over the sport. Add in the impressive play of accomplished legends such as Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer and you have young stars needing to play their very best in order to contend. Plenty of young ATP stars are doing just that. Alexander Zverev, Frances Tiafoe, and Stefanos Tsitsipas are just a few of those players. Kyrgios needs to find his way into that group if he wants to touch career heights yet again.
