Kyle Edmund rebounds with Indian Wells Challenger title

British number one Kyle Edmund rebounds with a much needed strong performance by taking the Indian Wells Challenger title.
Kyle Edmund defeats fellow up and coming ATP men’s singles star Andrey Rublev during the Indian Wells Challenger final this week. The British number one was in need of a strong performance and he really outdid himself. Edmund entered the action in Indian Wells without a match win so far on the 2019 ATP Tour.
Play in Indian Wells is part of the ATP Challenger Tour. Edmund wins his sixth career Challenger title. Earlier in his young career, he dominated the scene there and it was the perfect place to reestablish himself before we can too deep into the 2019 ATP Tour.

Edmund defeats Rublev in straight sets, winning the final in just 54 minutes. He goes 6-3, 6-2 over the young Russian. Both players are among the best rising ATP stars in men’s singles today. Rublev has plenty of positives to takeaway from his play in Indian Wells this week.
As for Edmund, he wins five matches in five days, earning an impressive title that could not have come at a better time. He earned his first ATP Tour level title toward the end of last year and then struggle with a knee injury that cut his momentum short. After losses in Brisbane and at the Australian Open, Edmund was yet to discover his rhythm on the year.
Now, the British number one has plenty of momentum as we gear up for the BNP Paribas Open next week. Look for him to be an interesting pick to make a deep run. His Challenger title is proof positive that Edmund is in good shape and that all he needed was a few match wins under his belt in order to get back into top form.
Edmund was the top seed in Indian Wells this week. He lives up to the billing by taking the title. While he dominated several of his matches including the final against Rublev, he did face some tough opposition in the quarterfinals and semifinals. This tournament provided a much needed test for the 24-year-old tennis star.
