Novak Djokovic among early 2019 Miami Open winners

Top seed and favorite Novak Djokovic is off to the start he wanted at the 2019 Miami Open. Take a look at him and other early round winners.
World number one Novak Djokovic is on fire throughout the better part of the last year. Since winning Wimbledon in 2018, Djokovic has gone on an incredible stretch of tennis, taking titles at the US Open and then earlier in 2019 at the Australian Open. He kicks off his time at the Miami Open with a solid win.
Djokovic defeats Australian tennis player Bernard Tomic in straight sets. While Tomic made it a tough first set, the Serbian great takes the match 7-6 (2), 6-2.

As Djokovic moves on at the Miami Open, we are keeping an eye on both Roger Federer and Alexander Zverev. Both are among the top seeds in the men’s singles main draw and are in action this weekend at the Masters 1000 event.
We did get an UPSET ALERT for one of the top players in the field. Dominic Thiem is ousted by Hubert Hurkacz just days after his stellar Indian Wells win.
Other early winners in men’s singles include Fabio Fognini, Roberto Bautista Agut, Robin Haase, Nick Kyrgios, Kyle Edmund, and defending Miami champion John Isner.
Other shocking upsets came to Japanese tennis star Kei Nishikori and Lucas Pouille. As for Djokovic, he takes on Federico Delbonis of Argentina next at the 2019 Miami Open. The two square off on Sunday at the tournament and Djokovic ought to be considered a heavy favorite. Look for the top seed to put on another strong display of tennis.
The must watch matches on Saturday include Federer taking on Radu Albot and Zverev taking on David Ferrer. If either Federer or Zverev sees an upset, Djokovic’s Miami stock could soar. Lookout for the defending champion Isner though and others such as Frances Tiafoe, Kevin Anderson, and Marin Cilic as they hit the courts today.
