Roberto Bautista Agut SHOCKS the top seed and heavy favorite Novak Djokovic at the 2019 Miami Open. Here’s how it happened.

The 22nd seeded Roberto Bautista Agut setup another highly anticipated matchup with Novak Djokovic at the 2019 Miami Open this week. The two last faced each other in the semifinals at the Qatar Open earlier this year. There, it was Bautista Agut who bested the world number one. He would advance to the finals, defeating Tomáš Berdych and earning the title.

An impressive start the 2019 ATP Tour has made Bautista Agut someone to watch in men’s singles. In Miami this month, he keeps up his newfound momentum with a shocking upset over Djokovic yet again…

Bautista Agut defeats Djokovic in a three set thriller at the Miami Open. Winning 1-6, 7-5, 6-3, the Spanish tennis star appears to have Djokovic’s number right now. With the top seed ousted, the path to a title gets even more interesting.

Up next for Bautista Agut is another tough opponent. He takes on the tournament’s defending champion in John Isner. The towering American is also surging at the moment and is coming off of a strong win over British number one Kyle Edmund.

Isner and Bautista Agut don’t have a long history of playing one another but the American does have the slight edge throughout their career head to head meetings. Take a look here.
