#3 – Rafael Nadal’s injury woes just never end…

Coming from a four month injury layoff, Rafael Nadal had a superb run in the Australian Open, getting to the final. His next tournament was Acapulco where he lost to the mercurial Nick Kyrgios in the Second Round.

Nadal then proceeded to the semi finals of Indian Wells, dismantling opponents left, right and center. However, he suffered a knee injury just before his semi final meaning that he had to withdraw. The recurrent injuries for Nadal is a cause of concern. He is also 32-years-old and counting. The worrying thing here is that Rafa has not completed two consecutive hard court tournaments in the last18 months.

No one has confirmed the severity of Rafa’s knee injury but hopefully it’s not too bad as we know he has been back in practice on the clay courts in his academy. However, I believe we have now seen that Rafa might well be willing to cut down his schedule in the hard courts to stay fit for longer periods of time.
