Coming in at #4 is Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem. He is praised for his play on clay and this could be his year.

Last year at the French Open, Dominic Thiem came the closest he ever has to a Grand Slam singles title. Finishing runner-up to the King of Clay Rafael Nadal, Thiem came up just short of what would have been a true dream run at Roland Garros.

Throughout his time at the major tournament, the young Austrian knocked out the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Kei Nishikori, and Alexander Zverev among others. While Nadal bested him in the finals, we have already speculated that Thiem stands a good chance to win several French Open men’s singles titles throughout his career.

Will Thiem take the title in 2019? He is coming it at around a 12-1 pick this year and needs to be considered a top contender at Roland Garros. Thiem won the Indian Wells Masters this year and is the world number five in men’s singles as of writing. Recap his historic victory at Indian Wells here.

Keep an eye on the Austrian tennis star in the coming weeks. If he gains momentum in the tournaments leading up to the French Open, we like him to reach at the least the quarterfinals if not best his previous year’s result. Especially if Nadal or others come in at less than 100 percent healthy, Thiem could play spoiler and take his first career Grand Slam singles title.
