Coming in at #1… we already know the answer… it’s the King of Clay Rafael Nadal. The Spanish superstar is the favorite at the French Open.

Rafael Nadal has easily experienced most of his historic success at the French Open. If he is healthy, which he claims to be as of writing this, Nadal must be considered the favorite at Roland Garros this year. He is the defending champion and has an incredible 11 titles in men’s singles at the second Grand Slam of the calendar year.

The clay court season typically belongs to Nadal. He earned the title of King of Clay and has more than managed to defend it each and every year. Recently, Nadal posted video of him back on the practice courts at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Spain.

Can Rafa defend his French Open title in men’s singles? If healthy, there is no reason think that he can’t. This is even despite Roger Federer deciding to take on the field at the event. While Federer has skipped the clay court season in the past, the 37-year-old is out to have fun and leave his mark on the sport of tennis and that means playing the French Open. Rafael Nadal is the current two-time defending champion at Roland Garros. For now, he remains the favorite in the men’s singles field but let’s keep a close eye on his progress over the next few weeks.
