American tennis star Sam Querrey is on a fantastic run at the 2019 U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships. Can he make the finals?
Sam Querrey is the eighth seed in men’s singles this year at the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston, Texas. He defeats Serbian tennis player Janko Tipsarevic in straight sets to reach the semifinals.
Winning 7-6 (6), 7-6 (4), Querrey inches closer and closer to a shot at the title. He is now just one match away from a championship match. Previously at the event, the American tennis star made the finals in both 2010 and 2015.
Up next for Querrey is Christian Garín of Chile. The 22-year-old tennis player is on an impressive run so far in Houston. He opened with a win over Pablo Cuevas, before also knocking out second seed Jeremy Chardy and then Henri Laaksonen in the quarterfinals.
As for the eighth seeded American, he has wins over the likes of BjornFratangelo, Guillermo García-López, and then Tipsarevic. If we had to pick a winner in the upcoming semifinals matchup, it’d be Querrey. Anything can happen in Houston though.
Casper Ruud wins his quarterfinals match against Marcel Granollers in dominant fashion. He goes 6-1, 6-0 over Granollers, advancing to the semifinals. Rudd awaits the winner of Daniel Elahi Galán and Jordan Thompson. As of right now, we like Querrey to take the title at the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston.
Who do you think has the best shot at the title this year? If Sam Querrey can oust his young challenger in the semifinals, he is one step closer to a title. He is experienced and seems due to take home a win in Houston. Stay tuned to see how he fares this weekend and how the rest of the semifinals action in men’s singles shakes out at the 2019 U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston.
