Italian tennis veteran Fabio Fognini sprints toward a ball in the above photo taken during his quarterfinals win at the 2019 Monte Carlo Masters.

Fabio Fognini is an accomplished tennis veteran on the ATP Tour and he is on his way to a HUGE match at the 2019 Monte Carlo Masters. Thanks to a victory featured in the above photo, Fognini sets up a meeting with the man who is more or less the identity of Monte-Carlo… Rafael Nadal. But first, let’s break down how Fognini got here.

The Italian tennis star fought hard to knock out the ninth seeded Borna Ćorić. The above photo is just one of many featuring Fognini playing his heart out this week. Prior to his win over Ćorić, he completed a massive upset over the third seeded Alexander Zverev. Add on top of that his opening round win over up and coming ATP star Andrey Rublev and Fognini has strung together a very very impressive set of match wins. Can he continue this impeccable run against the one and only Nadal? You’ll have to stay tuned to find out.
