Dominic Thiem was already among our top five favorites to win the French Open. He stock could be rising following another title win.

Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem is in the winner’s circle yet again on the 2019 ATP Tour. After winning earlier in the year at the Indian Wells Masters, Thiem goes on an impressive run at the Barcelona Open. He defeats Daniil Medvedev in the finals to take the men’s singles title this past week. With two title wins on the year, last year’s runner-up at Roland Garros could be someone to watch even closer at the upcoming Grand Slam.

Last year, Thiem finished second to Rafael Nadal. The King of Clay was in his element. Thiem is, however, coming off of a win over Nadal during the Barcelona semifinals. He is yet again proving that he belongs in the conversation when it comes to who can dominate on clay.

We previously placed Thiem as the number four player in OUR TOP FIVE TO WIN THE FRENCH OPEN. He remains in the top five but could be number three or even two following his Barcelona Open victory.

Others to watch of course include Nadal, rising ATP star Alexander Zverev, and then the greats in Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

Thiem could be the hot player heading into the French Open though. Djokovic has won three consecutive Grand Slams and Nadal is the historic champion at Roland Garros, but momentum is leaning toward Thiem.

The Barcelona Open makes that two ATP singles titles on the year for Thiem. He is already within the top five in the men’s singles rankings. His previous high ranking is world number four and he could easily crack the top three sooner rather than later. We likes his chances moving forward, especially during the clay court season. At just 25-years-old, Thiem is asserting himself on the ATP Tour and winning on a consistent basis.
