8. 2012 US Open Final vs Novak Djokovic

The hard work finally seeing reward in the shape of Murray’s first grand slam title. The final was an epic encounter with Novak Djokovic. The match lasted nearly five hours with Murray winning 7–6, 7–5, 2–6, 3–6, 6–2 to become the first British man to win a grand slam title since 1936.

To finally win a grand slam was a great relief for Murray. It put him right up there to be considered as one of the “big four”. Murray is now solidified in history among some of the biggest names in the entire sport. Winning any Grand Slam is an incredible feat. There was no doubt in 2012 that this was one of the key moments in Murray’s career. He had finally arrived and he did it on one of the biggest stages imaginable.
