Petra Kvitova makes difficult decision to withdraw from French Open

Czech tennis star Petra Kvitova is withdrawing from the 2019 French Open. She pulls out due to an ongoing injury in her left forearm.

Petra Kvitova makes a tough call to withdraw from the 2019 French Open. Announcing the withdrawal via her social media accounts and to the press, Kvitova made it known that she has been suffering from a left forearm injury for weeks now. An MRI confirmed that she has a grade two tear which could get worse upon playing.

The Czech tennis star has been playing fantastic as of late. Her withdrawal is certainly a blow to the women’s singles side of the action. Other top contenders, however, could have an improved path to a title at Roland Garros.

Entering the French Open, Kvitova is in first place in the Porsche Singles Race on the WTA Tour. She has two WTA singles titles on the year and has risen in the rankings yet again. It wasn’t too long ago that her stardom was put in jeopardy when an intruder broke into her home and the Czech tennis star narrowly survived a knife attack.

Kvitova made a complete comeback and fans and players alike have been fully behind her. She will be missed at the 2019 French Open. Kvitova was scheduled to take on

The 29-year-old Czech tennis star has her eyes on the grass court season and, of course, Wimbledon. Needing a few weeks to recover from the forearm injury, she is looking to bounce back in time for action at the next Grand Slam. At Wimbledon, Kvitova is a two-time champion in women’s singles, having won in both 2011 and 2014.
