During his opener at Roland Garros, Federer also won in straight sets. Defeating Italian tennis player Lorenzo Sonego, Federer made a strong opening statement.
Now, Federer continues to prove that he is here to challenge the likes of defending champion Rafael Nadal and others.
Of course, Nadal must be considered one of, if not the, favorites this year. World number one and top seed Novak Djokovic is also in action… and winning. He reaches the round of 64 as Nadal is already into the round of 32. Rafa has a tough matchup with Belgian tennis star David Goffin next at Roland Garros.
Up next for Federer is Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud. He is coming off of two strong wins to kick off his campaign at Roland Garros. Like Federer, Ruud is yet to drop a single set but we have to give the major edge to the Swiss tennis legend. Federer is undoubtedly one of the greatest to ever grace a court. Even though the clay court season is not typically where he shines, Federer has been his usual unstoppable self as of late.
