Azarenka is coming off of a win over 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko. She should provide a tough challenge for Osaka who is surging throughout the past year.

Also in women’s singles the red hot Kiki Bertens burns out, retiring during her round of 64 match against Viktória Kužmová. France’s Kristina Mladenovic is going home early, dropping her second match at Roland Garros to Petra Martić of Croatia.

Some more winners in women’s singles include Karolina Pliskova, Johanna Konta, and Serena Williams among others. Young Canadian tennis player Eugenie Bouchard made a return to the courts this week but falls in straight sets during her Roland Garros opener.

On the men’s singles side, we see Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic all winning early on. Grigor Dimitrov manages a tough round of 64 win over tennis star Marin Cilic. Alexander Zverev, David Goffin, Kyle Edmund, and Gael Monfils among others all remain alive.
