Tennis Channel is set to begin their one-of-a-kind virtual tennis tournament, the All-Star Championships. Here’s a breakdown of the first half and who will come out of the region.

Tennis Channel has recently announced a new, one-of-a-kind virtual event, set to begin today (June 8th). The ‘Fantasy Showdown‘ is the first of its kind in tennis; it’s a fully-simulated all-time bracket with classic head-to-head matchups of the past.

16 matchups will take place, with 8 being on the left half in the Laver Region. The other half will be in the Ashe region. It will feature the top players from the last 20 years, with stars of the present like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick.

The men’s event will run from June 8th to 12th. The women will follow from the 15th to the 19th

The event will run Monday through Friday for two consecutive weeks, with weekend recaps of the best competition from each.  All-Star Fantasy Showdown matches will take place throughout the afternoon and evening today to keep up with the live voting done by the fans. Lindsay Davenport and Tracy Austin, as well as fellow former players Jimmy Arias and Paul Annacone, will serve as analysts on the show to break down the matches. Paul Weissman will host.

"“For the first time ever, Tennis Channel viewers are going to see head-to-head matches in a tournament that features star players who made a lasting impact over the past two-and-a-half decades,” said John MacDonald of Tennis Channel. “Every day of the All-Star Fantasy Showdown will feel like a live competition, with commentary, analysis, actual matches, and the sense of an event storyline unfolding in real-time. Along the way, we expect the elements of fantasy and prediction to keep our audiences digitally engaged as well.”"
