Rounds 3 and 4 (Regional semifinals and regional finals)

Match #13 (Semifinal 1): Roger Federer vs Marat Safin

Federer’s only real rivals are his fellow Big 3 members at this point. No one else in this entire bracket, except for Agassi, could come close to beating Federer in this tournament. While Safin has had a good career, he’s been largely overshadowed by Federer from beginning to end.

Federer holds a 10-2 H2H advantage over Safin. Federer has 20 Grand Slams to Safin’s 2 and 25 Masters 1000s to his 5. It’s clear that Safin, despite being a great player, isn’t up to Federer’s standard.

Winner: Federer

Match #14 (Semifinal 2): Andy Roddick vs Andre Agassi

Overall, this match has the same feel as the previous one, but this All-American battle will be closer than some expect. While Agassi has the Grand Slam success, Roddick still had a great career of his own. Agassi is 5-1 H2h against Roddick, although they have all been close matches.

The reason Agassi will pull this out is because of his success in the big moments. When determining the greatest players of all time, it’s key that they perform at their best level when they’re under the brightest lights and under the most pressure. Agassi shined in those moments, while Roddick wasn’t one to appear in those as frequently.

Winner: Agassi

Match #15 (FINALS): Roger Federer vs Andre Agassi

This match puts the two best players from their respective eras up against one another. While both have had their rivals, they have become the two most loved players in the history of tennis.

It’s very tough to predict the winner here, but as Federer is statistically the better player, the win will go to him. While both players have had incredible careers as fan favorites, Federer’s ability as a maestro of tennis is what sets him apart. He’s broken countless records of Tour and is the face of the sport.

Agassi had an incredible run but couldn’t match up against the GOAT.

Winner: Federer

Laver Region winner: Roger Federer
