BREAKING: The Adria Tour’s 2nd leg in Zadar, Croatia, has been officially canceled after Grigor Dimitrov tested positive for COVID-19.

The finals of the Adria Tour‘s second leg in Zadar, Croatia, has been officially canceled after Grigor Dimitrov tested positive for COVID-19. After losing 4-1, 4-1, he pulled out of the tournament for an apparent illness. He confirmed it today on his Instagram page.

The Tour suspended the finals immediately after Dimitrov’s positive test had been made available to the public. After the final matches had been played, group leaders Novak Djokovic (Group A) and Andrey Rublev (Group B) held onto their lead with wins over Nino Serdarusic and Alexander Zverev, respectively.

Djokovic had come under much fire since the Tour was confirmed last month, with many citing that it was unsafe to play a tournament in front of packed stands, regardless of the government restrictions that the tour had passed.

The Tour’s third leg in Montenegro had already been scrapped due to virus concerns, and with the final match of Zadar scrapped, as well, questions will arise on whether or not the entire tour should be canceled due to the recent events.

No plan has been put into place publicly by the Adria Tour if this situation were to arise. It was only speculative that a leg would be scrapped if positive tests arose, and with Dimitrov already playing a match, possibly coming into contact with the other 7 players competing, the tour is in bad shape moving forward.
