3. Marco Cecchinato

Marco Cecchinato is another player who’ll benefit from Alexander Zverev’s potential inconsistencies. The 27-year-old Italian (who joins his countryman Sinner on his list) took down US Open semifinalist Alex de Minaur in straight sets to open his Paris campaign 7-6 (9), 6-4, 6-0. Cecchinato was incredible on serve; he finished with a 78% first serve percentage and a 62% first serve win percentage. He also forced 24 (!) break point opportunities on de Minaur and converted 8 of them.

He followed up his Round 1 win with a four-set victory over Juan Ignacio Londero. Cecchinato will now face Zverev in Round 3 with a shot at putting together a second upset victory, this time a much more rewarding victory in comparison to his opening match. It’s entirely possible that he takes him down but Cecchinato was heavily aided by the struggles de Minaur faced on his serve. If Zverev can put together a solid day on serve, the chances will diminish for him.
