In the first match on Court Philippe Chatrier on Monday, it was American teenager Coco Gauff who was up against the 26-year-old from Tunisia Ons Jabeur in the fourth round of the French Open. It was Gauff who came out on top, defeating Jabeur 6-3, 6-1 in just 53 minutes.

It was Gauff’s third time playing in a Major fourth round, and with the win, she will be playing in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the first time in her young career.

In the first set, Gauff started off really strong, winning the first three games of the set, breaking Jabeur in her first service game. Gauff was great on both the first and second serve in the set, winning 88% of the points on her first serve, and 67% on her second, according to Infosys Match Centre. She was also good on the return, winning 57% of the points on Jabeur’s second serve.

The strong serving held Jabeur to no break points in the set, while Gauff’s returning gave her four opportunities to break, although she only needed the one to take the first set 6-3.

In the second set, it was all Gauff as she closed the door shut on a possible Jabeur comeback. Gauff won 90% of the points on her second serve, while Jabeur won only 20% of the points on her second. Gauff would hit eight winners in the set to go along with just six unforced errors. Jabeur on the other hand had seven winners but had 11 unforced errors.

Gauff held Jabeur to no break point chances again in the second set, while Gauff would create seven chances for herself, and would break Jabeur’s serve three times. It was a dominant performance from Gauff on Monday, as she got off the court in less than an hour.

Up next for Coco Gauff will be Barbora Krejcikova, who defeated American Sloane Stephens 6-2, 6-0 in just a little over an hour on Monday.
