Current world number 1 Iga Swiatek had bolstered her chances at superstardom, signing today with IMG Tennis. The global talent management IMG oversees the careers of a number of high-profile individuals, including names such as Gigi Hadid and Naomi Osaka. The move is a welcome boost for Swiatek, who arguably has had the most success on-court out of any player in the last year. A player who has broken all sorts of records in 2022 (winning 2 grand slams and 4 master 1000s in a row), the records have just been tumbling in front of the talented Polish tennis player.

Swiatek is also now currently the joint holder of the longest women’s win streak of the 21st century- winning an astonishing 35 matches in a row. With the Australian Open just shy of a month away- the move to join the sports management agency seems like a strong step in the right direction for Iga in her quest for international recognition and endorsements.

Iga will kick off her 2023 campaign at the inaugural United Cup, a mixed tennis competition which will feature the likes of Rafael Nadal, Caroline Garcia, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jessica Pegula. The new $23 million tournament looks likely to be the long term successor to the old Hopman Cup, which was played exclusively in Perth.

Next month however, Iga will be looking to secure her 4th grand slam at the Australian Open. If she manages this achievement, she will sitting level with Naomi Osaka’s tally- and will only 1 behind Maria Sharapova.
