Others trending up

Tallon Griekspoor

The Libema Open is quickly becoming a stomping ground for Dutch favorites. With Tim van Rijthoven stunning the tennis world last year, another ascending Dutchman made his mark this week. Griekspoor, who is perhaps best well known for showing flashes in the 2021 US Open against Novak Djokovic.

But, this week he was the shining man as he captured his 2nd ATP title of the season. It didn’t come easy as he was only a game away from defeat in the Final. He passed the test and should be looking for more going forward.

Jordan Thompson

The last player we’ll look at who is trending in the right direction, is the man Griekspoor defeated in the Libema Open Final. The 29-year-old Aussie came agonizingly close to capturing the first ATP title in his career. Alas, despite some excellent serving from his side, the Dutchman would not be denied.

The emotion was palpable as Thompson kept his trophy acceptance speech brief as he struggled for words. Nonetheless, this result pushed him comfortably back into the Top 80 in the world. If he can keep serving like this, he will not be an easy out for anyone.
