Swiatek cements her status as a Swiftie with latest Taylor Swift comment

Four-time Grand Slam Champion and World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has never shied away from her fandom of Taylor Swift.  That’s why it is not surprising that Swiatek, recently named one of the ten most highly paid female athletes of the year, commented on Swift’s TIME Magazine cover as the 2023 Person of the Year featuring Taylor and her cat.

Taylor tweeted that she asked to bring her cat when TIME notified her of her Person of the Year honor.  Swiatek responded with “That’s the spirit.”

After turning 22 and winning a match at the 2023 French Open, Swiatek famously wrote on the camera “I’m feeling 22! #swiftie.”

Of course, Iga was quoting the lyrics of Swift’s “22” song.

Swiatek recently did an interview where she talked about her admiration of Swift’s songwriting.

She also admitted to taking grief from fans for not knowing every answer to a Taylor Swift trivia quiz.  Ironically, she got one wrong about how many cats Swift owns.

Finally, Swiatek is a cat lady herself and has been photographed with her cat named Grappa.

She was showering the black cat with post-practice hugs and noted that black cats bring good luck.

Even being compared to a cat, as Swiatek was recently, made her day.

One thing is for sure; Tayor Swift and Iga Swiatek are successful women. Swiatek had a huge year and finished it with a bang winning the WTA Finals and reclaiming the World No. 1 ranking from Aryna Sabalenka.
