The western part of North Carolina has had a horrible time of it over the last six months. Hurricane Helene washed away parts of towns and memories. The city of Asheville was devastated while towns such as Marshall and Hot Springs were as well. While there are fewer people who live in the area than in greater Los Angeles, the area has been just as relatively affected by a natural disaster.

Unfortunately, while there are a lot of benefits, including concerts streamed and shown on broadcast television, for those in LA, western North Carolina has mostly been forgotten. News cycles move too quickly to focus on any one area for too long, sadly. But while musicians put on shows to help LA (and good for them that they are), tennis greats are showing up to help North Carolina.

On Sunday, February 2, some of the very best will be putting on an exhibition in Asheville with the proceeds going to those in need after the wretchedness of the hurricane last September. The players involved include Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Emma Navarro, and Jessica Pegula. The event will take place at Harrah's Cherokee Casino, and the doors open at 1:30 pm ET.

Tennis gods are not the only celebrities who will be there. Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy will participate, as will actor Esai Morales. Michael Kosta of the Daily Show will be there, and so will Survivor host, Jeff Probst.

The charities who will benefit from the exhibition are vast. They include Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, Asheville and Buncombe County United Way, the Always Asheville Fund, and the Asheville Tennis Association. Assuming you cannot get to Asheville, you can donate online as well.

You can do so at event partner's Goldin site through next Thursday (February 6). The link is here.
