Billie Jean King Cup finals: Draw, TV/streaming and schedule
By Lee Vowell
12 teams will battle for the title of the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup in Malaga, Spain, beginning this week and ending next week. Of the 12 teams, four - Canada, Italy, Czechia, and Australia - received berths directly into the quarterfinals. The other teams will have to defeat one another in an earlier stage.
Each tie, with a full schedule that follows below, will be a best-of-three match. Two of the matches will feature singles, while the third will be a doubles match. Individual matchups will not be announced until an hour before each tie begins. Normally, the second-seeded player for each team will face another team's second-seed, and so on.
The Billie Jean King Cup, named, of course, after tennis great and great tennis ambassador Billie Jean King, began in 1963 as the Federation Cup. The name was changed to honor BJK in 2020. The event features national teams who reach the finals after previous knock-out rounds. Since 2017, there has not been a repeat winner, though Canada has a chance to do that this year as they won the event in 2023.

Some of the players involved in this year's tournament are Danielle Collins of the United States, Jasmine Paolini of Italy, Iga Swiatek of Poland, and Paula Badosa of Spain. One of the great parts of the event is a team needs depth to win instead of relying on just one excellent player.
