The Mallorca Championships in Spain, set to begin this weekend, will not include Casper Ruud, unfortunately, as the ATP-ranked No. 16 is dealing with a knee injury. It's a disappointing development that can be felt in the comments Ruud recently posted.

Since his Madrid Open win in May, Ruud hasn't experienced the same level of success in subsequent events, and now, a hampering injury, which has knocked him out of Mallorca, could lead to further disappointment on a much larger stage.

The tennis season's third Grand Slam in Wimbledon is a week away, and Ruud won't be able to play in that event either. He was forced to withdraw from the grass-court major.

Casper Ruud will not play at Wimbledon

Ruud hasn't played a match since the French Open, which resulted in a second-round loss. By the time Wimbledon comes around, he'll have had an entire month off, but still with no timetable to return.

Regarding his chances to compete at Wimbledon, Ruud recently expressed his desire to push for that goal, but he has to be disappointed that he will miss the Grand Slam as well as the Mallorca event.

“I will keep training and pushing to be ready for Wimbledon but Mallorca will not be within reach for me, so I am really sorry for all the people there," Ruud said in a post via the Mallorca Championships. "I love Mallorca and I love going there. I hope I can go back another time because I was very excited for it. But I need to listen to the body and I will keep training and hopefully see you back on court soon.”

Since Ruud is unable to compete at Wimbledon, his entire grass-court season will be lost, and he would have to resume his year on clay and hard courts. Grass has never been Ruud's most compliant surface, so in hindsight, recovering from this injury happened at a fair time of year.

That said, the competitor that Ruud is, there's no doubt he won't see it that way. Hopefully, for him, missing Wimbledon isn't a closed door. Besides, his 2025 campaign was going fairly well before his injury, including his first and only title of the year so far.

Ruud has enjoyed a 25-8 record so far this season and will look to pick things back up once he returns healthy and ready to play. The only problem is that there is no known date for when he will come back. The point now is to get healthy, even if that means fans won't be seeing him at Wimbledon.
