Maria Sakkari is adding a familiar face to her team, reuniting with Tom Hill, effective immediately. Sakkari has struggled with injuries and confidence. She wants to recreate the magic she had with Hill.

Hill is best known for his previous work with Sakkari from 2018 to 2024. He also worked with Danielle Collins and, most recently, with Peyton Stearns. They recently parted ways, and Stearns has been employing unusual ways to find a new coach.

In-season coaching changes are becoming the norm. Sakkari is the latest to do so; however, Andrey Rublev and Diana Shnaider also made changes this spring. Although not confirmed by Stefanos Tsitsipas, a rumor is circulating that he will add Goran Ivanisevic to his team in the coming months.

What Maria Sakkari achieved in her last stint with Tom Hill

Under Tom Hill's tutelage, Maria Sakkari achieved her biggest career successes. Those included a 2020 win over Serena Williams in Cincinnati, multiple appearances in the WTA Finals, and a career-high ranking of World No. 3 in March 2022.

Sakkari has always been fit and talented. Her issues were more confidence-related. Hill was able to help her through those struggles.

She will turn 30 in July, so physical issues are becoming more prevalent, and her ranking has suffered as a result. Currently, she is 82nd in the world.

Sakkari is not satisfied with her game. She took to social media to challenge tennis content creator Christian's Court, who commented on her falling ranking. He openly opined about her chances to get back into the Top 10. She responded by writing: "Am I the first or the last that's coming back from an injury and is dropping points?"

Sakkari and Hill had a great relationship when they amicably parted ways in February 2024. They will be able to pick up right where they left off.
