The Miami Open clearly needs to do one thing: take some money made from the Masters 1000 event and build a center court with a retractable roof. This way, the main matches can be played without issues in case it rains, but if the day is warm and clear, the crowd can enjoy the sunshine.

Of course, doing that would mean the people overseeing the tournament would need to dedicate an actual tennis facility for the Miami Open instead of playing it inside Hard Rock Stadium. Sure, it looks a bit neat to have a tennis event inside a football stadium, but not as a permanent thing.

Too often over the years, the Miami Open has received criticism about trying to work around the weather with poorly timed matches. The 2024 tournament certainly had its share of problems. While rain has not been quite the issue this year that it was last year, precipitation has still been a factor.

Will the weather impact the men's semifinals at the 2025 Miami Open?

That won't be the case on Friday for the men's semifinal matches, though. According to the Weather Channel, there is little chance of rain with a seven percent chance of rain at the start of the first match (Novak Djokovic against Grigor Dimitrov), and a 10 percent chance at the beginning of that last match (Jakub Mensik versus Taylor Fritz).

Conditions could still be a problem, though, as the wind is expected to gust up to 20 mph throughout most of the day. Expect some longer matches as players might want to wait several times until the wind dies down before serving the ball.

The matches should be fun, though. Djokovic, who is good friends with Dimitrov, has not played in the event since 2019, and has not won it since 2016. 19-year-old Jakub Mensik is trying to reach his first Masters 1000 final when he takes on American Taylor Fritz. Fritz had never made it past the quarterfinals at the Miami Open until this year.

  • How to watch: In the United States, the matches can be seen on the Tennis Channel
