Nick Kyrgios heading back to ATP 250 event that led to epic 2022 Wimbledon run

It's been too long.

There is virtually no real way to get a grasp on the status or direction of Nick Kyrigos' tennis career at the moment. One day, he seems like he's out the door. Another day, he's got one foot in and one out. Another day, he looks to still be all in.

Well, if his confirmed upcoming tennis schedule remains intact, the heated Aussie star will be gracing the tennis courts in the singles draws coming up once again, unlike his run at the Australian Open, where he played doubles with his countryman and friend, Thanasi Kokkinakis, skipping the singles draw.

That said, Kyrgios' current place on the ATP Tour is about as inconsistent as he's been on the court in recent memory. Still, he remains must-watch television, or at the very least, must-watch tennis, and fans in Santa Ponsa, Mallorca, will have the opportunity to see him live soon enough.

Nick Kyrgios set to play in the Mallorca event after four-year absence

The Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Championships in Mallorca, Spain, is an ATP 250 grass event leading up to Wimbledon, and Kyrgios hasn't played there since 2022. Mallorca isn't the only grass-court event Kyrgios is slated to play in leading up to Wimbledon, either.

Kyrgios recently accepted a wild card spot at the Stuttgart Open to add to his now confirmed Mallorca event. In 2022, the last time he played the event, Kyrgios had his career-best Grand Slam run, reaching the Wimbledon final but losing to Novak Djokovic.

Since then, believe it or not, Kyrgios has played in just one grass-court event, largely due to injuries that kept him away from tennis for much of the last two years. It's exciting to see him return to the grass arena; however, considering how much time he's spent off it, who knows how well he will fare.

The good news for Kyrgios is that grass might be his best surface aside from hard court, having a 36–19 record on the green. When he last played in Mallorca, Kyrgios exited early with an injury against Laslo Djere in round one, but still won the match before ceding a walkover for the next round.

Then, Kyrgios was building up momentum for his Wimbledon run; however, this time around, it's uncertain whether he will play at Wimbledon in June. Playing in Stuttgart and Mallorca will present two great opportunities for Kyrgios to get a feel for how the rest of the summer might go for him.

Kyrgios may not be much of a winner, but he is a spectacular showman and entertainer. Here's hoping tennis fans can get a good show when he returns to the courts in the grass season. Another bit of good news: Kyrgios may just be the top player in both Stuttgart and Mallorca. Perhaps he can find a win or two there, and who knows what that could do for his confidence the rest of the way.
