For the first time in about 20 years, we have witnessed a Grand Slam season not dominated by the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. Instead, we saw two rising ATP stars cement their status as current and future greats of this sport at the 2024 Grand Slams.

It was a sweep of the 2024 Majors for Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, as they each picked up a pair of Grand Slams. Alcaraz captured his first French Open title while also notching his second victory at Wimbledon. Sinner won his first career Grand Slam at the Australian Open and finished his remarkable 2024 hard-court season by taking home the US Open trophy.

Although only Alcaraz and Sinner came out on top at the Majors this season, there are plenty of players who took a step forward and performed well on the biggest stage. On the other hand, there were a handful of players who did not live up to expectations and had underwhelming performances at the Majors. Let us take a look at the ATP winners and losers from the 2024 Grand Slams.

ATP winners and losers from the 2024 Grand Slams

Winner: Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner was the best ATP player at the Grand Slams this season. Sinner won both the Australian Open and US Open while also making the semifinals at the French Open and quarterfinals at Wimbledon. He is the current world number one by a large margin and was the most consistent player at the Majors in 2024.

Loser: Alexander Zverev

Despite going 18-4 at the Majors in 2024, Alexander Zverev's inability to win a Grand Slam this season will haunt him for many years to come. In Australia, he squandered a two-set lead against Daniil Medvedev, then followed that up by losing the French Open final after being up two sets to one. Lastly, when the draw opened up in New York, Zverev fell to Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals.

Winner: Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz had a rollercoaster year at the Grand Slams in 2024. He fell in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open to Zverev, won the French Open and Wimbledon, and then finished the Grand Slam season with a shocking second-round defeat at the US Open to Botic van de Zandschulp. Despite disappointing results at two of the Majors, capturing two Grand Slams is more than enough to consider it a great season.

Loser: Andrey Rublev

Andrey Rublev's main goal for 2024 was to get past the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam. Unfortunately for him, he not only failed to achieve that, but he also had his worst results at the Majors in three years. The most shocking result came at Wimbledon, falling in the first round to Francisco Comesana. Rublev only made one quarterfinal appearance at the Slams this season, which came in Australia.

Winner: Taylor Fritz

Taylor Fritz separated himself from the other Americans with his performances at the Grand Slams in 2024. He won 17 matches at the Majors this season, the fifth most among all ATP players. Fritz made the final of the US Open while also making quarterfinal appearances at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Loser: Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic won the only thing missing on his career resume in 2024, taking home the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Yet, if we go strictly off of performances at the Majors this year, Djokovic did have a disappointing season. After winning three Grand Slams in 2023, Djokovic added none to his collection this year.
