There is certainly an argument that Yevgeny Kafelnikov was a bully to Iga Swiatek on social media. Sure, the former ATP No. 1 has a right to his opinions, but the way one words things and the potentially sexist motives behind them are important too. The fact is that in a recent spat, Kafelnikov's attack of Swiatek was not fully thought out on his part.

The issue is that Swiatek, the reigning No. 1 on the WTA tour, has often spoken about the tennis schedule being far too heavy. Tournaments are pressed together which leaves little room for things such as weather to get in the way. A bad day or two of storms and multiple matches might need to be played by a player in one day to be able to move forward at an event.

This is also no downtime for players. From January through November, there are rarely weeks when players do not feel the need to participate in a tournament in order to maintain their ranking. This leaves one month a year for not doing much. That is unlike nearly every other spot. The NFL season, for instance, runs from July's training camp until - for most teams - the last game of the year in January.

Daria Kasatkina has Iga Swiatek's back against Yevgeny Kafelnikov

At the Cincinnati Open, Swiatek talked with Sky Sports about how the tennis schedule is too overwhelming and players don't get enough rest. She said, "I've been kind of an advocate in saying that we shouldn’t, I don’t know...be pushing and pushing for us to play more...I love playing in all these places, but it’s pretty exhausting. Most of the players will tell you that...I don’t think it should be like that because we deserve to rest a little bit more. Maybe people are going to hate me for saying that."

Kafelnikov certainly did. He took to social media to respond to Swiatek's comments by saying, "is someone pushing you to play??? All you fricking do is complain!! I’ll tell you what you deserve! You deserve to get paid a lot less than you do now!! How about that??" The question is, why would Swiatek deserve to earn less? She's proven to be the best player on the WTA tour.

Fellow WTA player Daria Kasatkina was not going to let Kafelnikov go unanswered, though. She smartly posted a tweet of the winnings that Swiatek has had versus what Kafelnikov earned while he was playing. Kasatkina also pointed out the seemingly obvious jealousy Kafelnikov has that he did not make as much money as Swiatek.

Kasatkina wrote, "Now I see why you are so pissed" to Kafelnivov followed by a laughing emoji. Nothing wrong with a bit of truth on both sides. Kafelnikov's initial venom toward Swiatek deserved a response, though.
