Davis Cup Final 8 draw revealed: Italy to begin title defense against Argentina
After last week's Davis Cup finals group stage matches, we knew which eight teams were going through to the knockout stage. However, on Thursday we finally got the Davis Cup Final 8 draw.
Argentina, Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and the USA are the eight teams competing in this year's Davis Cup Final.
The finals begin on November 19 and will run until a champion is crowned on November 24. This year, the finals are taking place at the Palacio Deportes Martín Carpena in Malaga, Spain.

Italy vs Argentina
Starting at the top half of the draw, defending champions Italy will take on Argentina in the Davis Cup Final 8. Italy went 3-0 in the group stage, defeating Brazil, Belgium, and Netherlands each by the score of 2-1. Argentina finished second in its group behind Canada, with victories over Great Britain and Finland.
USA vs Australia
In the other top-half matchup, it will be the USA against Australia. USA has won the Davis Cup a record 32 times in the event's history but has not lifted the trophy since 2007. Australia is second all-time with 28 Davis Cup titles, but it has been over 20 years since they were last crowned champions.
Germany vs Canada
In the bottom half of the draw, 2022 Davis Cup champions Canada takes on Germany. Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov dominated the group stage, as each went 3-0 in singles play. Germany has one of the best doubles teams remaining in the tournament, with Tim Puetz and Kevin Krawietz winning all four of their doubles matches in the group stage.
Netherlands vs Spain
The last matchup in the Davis Cup Final 8 features the Netherlands against Spain. The Netherlands finished second in its group behind Italy, narrowly advancing despite going 1-2 in the group stage. On the other hand, Spain finished atop its group after wins over France, Czechia, and Australia.
