Jiri Lehecka released a statement on social media Monday, announcing that he and Tomas Berdych mutually agreed to part ways. Berdych had been coaching Lehecka since the 2023 Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.

In a series of posts on X, Lehecka thanked Berdych and wished him all the best in his new role as the Davis Cup team captain of Czechia.

Lehecka also announced that the rest of his team will remain the same. His current coach is Michal Navratil, a former player with a career-high singles ranking of number 274 in the world.

Jiri Lehecka decides to end his relationship with Tomas Berdych

Tomas Berdych won 13 ATP titles as a player before retiring in 2019. He reached a career-high ranking of number four in the world, and in 2010, made a run to the Wimbledon final before losing to Rafael Nadal. Berdych was announced as Czechia's new Davis Cup captain on Sunday and will captain his first tie in next year's qualifiers.

While working with Berdych, Lehecka captured his first ATP Tour title, winning the Adelaide International ATP 250 event this past January. Lehecka also reached the final of the Winston-Salem Open in 2023, just a few months after he added Berdych to his team.

Lehecka has a current ranking of number 36 in the ATP Rankings, a slight dip from the end of last year when he finished 2023 with a ranking of 31 in the world. He missed several months during the middle of this year after suffering an injury to his vertebra, which caused him to retire mid-match in the semifinals of the Madrid Masters. The 22-year-old returned in time to compete in Cincinnati and at the US Open, winning a couple of matches in both events before being eliminated.

With Lehecka and Berdych both being from Czechia, their partnership will not be completely over. They will continue to work with each other when coming together for future Czechia Davis Cup matches.
