The 2024 tennis season is officially underway, and among the exciting early tidbits include America's top-ranked female players featured in sportswear ads for the brands they represent World No. 3 Coco Gauff is the face of New Balance and has been customary since their partnership began, the brand does an ad featuring a glammed-up Gauff multiple times each year. World No. 5 Jessica Pegula has been with Adidas for years and is the face of the current ad for the Australian Open kit.

Other sports should not wonder why tennis produces the majority of the top ten highest-earning female athletes each year. Golf, soccer, and basketball need to get on board to give female athletes these types of opportunities, ones that male athletes have been enjoying for years.

This is an amazing evolution for tennis in the 1980s when players' clothes were an afterthought, or they wore the same clothes for every tournament, sponsor patches were sewed on like a scout's patch on his or her uniform.

Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula are friendly competitors

Not only are the ads featuring Gauff and Pegula great, but the relationship between the two is also important. They could be extremely competitive and ill-willed toward each other. However, the doubles partners and friends cheer each other on and push each other to be better. Female athletes in an individual sport genuinely supporting each other is a rarity, and we love everything about it. Pegula is 29 years old and a late bloomer who dealt with so many injuries early in her career, but she loves that Gauff is 19 and already a Grand Slam champion.

The question for Gauff and Pegula in 2024 is what they will achieve individually, and collectively as a doubles team. Our wish list is for multiple Grand Slams and Olympic medals with the American flag draped around each of them.
