The field for the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals is set following Novak Djokovic’s announcement that he will miss the event due to injury. The eight players competing for the year-end championship include Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur, and Andrey Rublev.

With the defending champion out, there are only two players in the field who have won the ATP Finals in the past. Alexander Zverev, the 2018 and 2021 champion, will be looking for his third career ATP Finals title as he enters the event as the World No. 2 in the ATP Rankings. Daniil Medvedev, winner of the 2020 edition, will be competing in his sixth consecutive ATP Finals.

The tournament will take place from Nov. 10-17 in Turin, Italy. To prepare fans for the year-end event, here are the eight players in the field ranked from least likely to most likely to win the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals.

Ranking the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals field

8. Casper Ruud

Casper Ruud is coming into this tournament on a four-match losing streak. It has been a rough stretch of tennis as of late for the 2022 ATP Finals finalist, and I would not be surprised if we see him go 0-3 in the group stage at this year’s tournament.

7. Andrey Rublev

Another player in the field who has not played up to his normal level as of late is Andrey Rublev. He withdrew ahead of his quarterfinal match in Metz, citing an abdominal injury that he wants to recover from in order to be in the best shape possible for the ATP Finals. With the possible injury concern, along with his recent play, it looks unlikely that Rublev will advance to the semifinals in Turin.

6. Daniil Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev will not have a ton of confidence heading into this year’s ATP Finals. Medvedev has lost to Jannik Sinner four times, Carlos Alcaraz three times, and Alex de Minaur once this year. After the US Open, Medvedev has a record of 6-5, which is not ideal heading into a tournament against the very best in the world.

5. Alex de Minaur

Alex de Minaur is the most likely candidate to pull off an upset or two at this year’s ATP Finals. Although he has yet to beat Sinner or Alcaraz in his career, de Minaur has defeated Rublev, Zverev, Medvedev, Fritz, and Ruud already this season.

4. Taylor Fritz

Coming off of making the final at the US Open, Taylor Fritz is in a good position to contend for the year-end title. Fritz is one of the most consistent players on tour right now and will be a tough out for anyone in this tournament.

3. Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev is the World No. 2 for a reason. He enters the tournament with the most matches won on the ATP Tour this season with 66 wins. Zverev has multiple wins against every player in the field and has the prior experience of knowing how to win this tournament.

2. Carlos Alcaraz

It has been an interesting end of the season for Carlos Alcaraz. After an early exit in New York, Alcaraz seemed to find his gear again at the Laver Cup and Beijing, only to lose before the semifinals in Shanghai and Paris. One thing is for certain, though; if he is playing at his best, no one is going to beat him.

1. Jannik Sinner

The overall best player of the 2024 season, Jannik Sinner is the current World No. 1 in the ATP Rankings. Sinner has only lost six matches this year, and he should be the favorite to reach the final due to his consistent play all season long.
