AO Quarterfinals: Ranking the Final Eight

8. Nick Kyrgios
How he got here:
R1: Federico Delbonis in five
R2: (23) Ivo Karlovic in four
R3: Malek Jaziri in three
R4: Andreas Seppi in five
Possible path to title:
QF: (6) Andy Murray
SF: (3) Rafael Nadal
F: (1) Novak Djokovic
Chance at Championship:
Little to no chance. Kyrgios has invigorated the crowd in Melbourne and the Aussies are eager to root him on. Still, his draw has not been particularly difficult and he certainly has not faced anyone near the caliber of Murray. He often starts slow and is able to recover. That won’t happen against top players. He has gotten by on his natural talent, but he will need to work hard to get to Grand Slam threat level. Even if he surprises Murray, you can’t expect him to beat three of the Big Four in consecutive matches.
