Wimbledon: Seeds officially announced for 2015

The seeds of officially been announced for Wimbledon this year, with 2014 champion Novak Djokovic top of the pile. The unique Wimbledon seeding formula has had little affect this time round, with the top 16 in tact when it comes to implications for the draw on Friday.

Dominic Thiem was the 32nd and last man to squeeze into a seeding position and he will reap the benefits of this, avoiding any of the other seeds until at least the third round. The same goes for Jack Sock, who is seeded at a Grand Slam for the first time and will be desperate to capitalise.

Seeds in Full:

1 DJOKOVIC, Novak (SRB)
2 FEDERER, Roger (SUI)
3 MURRAY, Andy (GBR)
4 WAWRINKA, Stan (SUI)

The seeding announcement has brought to the table the question of whose half Andy Murray will end up on. The Brit is many peoples favourite for a second title and has a 50/50 chance of being in the same half of the draw as Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

It would be clear as to who Murray would prefer, having lost to Djokovic in their last 8 matches and holding a much more favourable head to head against Federer. Fourth seed Stan Wawrinka, elevating his ranking hugely after winning the French Open, will go into to opposite half to Murray.

Elsewhere, Nick Kyrgios looms large as the 26th seed. Having narrowly missed out on escaping the 25th to 32nd seed range, he now faces being on a collision course with one of the top 8 seeds in the third round. Whilst he will fully back himself against anyone, we could be in for fireworks if the likes of Djokovic, Murray or Federer face the Australian in the first week.

One man I would say to look out for is 22nd seed Victor Troicki, who was in the form of his career before coming unstuck against Murray at Queens in a rain interrupted match. The Serb has developed an all court game and looked supremely confident and comfortable on the grass.

By knowing the seeds, we also know which unseeded players go into the draw as floaters who could meet any of the seeds from round one. We have already covered who with think are the most dangerous floaters this year; players that nobody will want to face on the opening day.
