Wimbledon 2015 – Day Five Highlights
Wimbledon 2015 – Day Five Highlights
Performance Of The Day
Richard Gasquet can be a beautiful player to watch when all the elements of his game click into gear.
Fortunately for him and his fans, that is exactly what happened on Friday as he defeated the ludicrously talented Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets on Centre Court.
The Frenchman exhibited all of the shots he has in his arsenal on his way to an incredibly impressive 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory over an admittedly out of sorts Dimitrov.
Next up for Gasquet is the up-and-coming Nick Krygios, and with the confidence seemingly back in his game, he should back himself to take down the Aussie to progress to the quarters.
Match Of The Day
Heather Watson’s match against Serena Williams was supposed to be a romantic affair where the Brit gained some vital experience, but was eventually seen off without much fuss by the 20-time Grand Slam winner. Nobody told Watson that, though.
The girl from Guernsey appeared to be crashing out of the tournament with a whimper after dropping the first set 6-2, but she came roaring back with admirable guts and determination to take the second against an increasingly irate Williams.
The deciding set was all drama. Watson took a shock double break lead, before her esteemed opponent hit back in a manner befitting of a multiple Wimbledon champion.
The youngster nearly pulled off the upset to end all upsets though, serving for the match at 5-4, only to eventually go down 7-5 in a thriller on Centre Court.

Shock Of The Day
It is easy to forget that Sam Stosur is a Grand Slam champion, with the Australian having a US Open title to her name.
With that in mind, it is a shock to see her being eliminated during the first week of a major, which is the fate she suffered on Friday afternoon.
It was more the manner of her exit that caught the eye, rather than the exit itself, however.
Coco Vandeweghe easily saw her opponent off in the end, dropping just two games on her way to the last-16. Who saw that one coming?
One To Look Forward To
At first glance Andy Murray’s third round match-up with Andreas Seppi doesn’t generate too much excitement.
However, it must be remembered that Seppi is an extremely tough opponent to put away, and in the sweltering heat currently going round Wimbledon, this will not be a nice clash for the Brit you sense.
The Italian has already defeated Roger Federer at the Australian Open this year, and reached the final of Halle last weekend, so there is no doubting his pedigree at this level.
The home crowd at SW19 will be fully expecting a Murray victory, but it will not come easy should his opponent bring his A game. This one could be a clash to remember for many a year.
