Is this really a surprise?
Serena entered Wimbledon under immense pressure to emulate the ‘Serena Slam’ that she claimed in the 2002-3 season.
After enjoying a relatively easy path to claim her third French Open title, Serena faced a brutal draw at Wimbledon. To claim the title, she had to hit her way through three former world number 1s in Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka and her sister Venus. On top of that, she faced two young women who just wouldn’t miss in Heather Watson and Garbine Muguruza.

And so, she fought through the draw, claiming her sixth Wimbledon title, her 21st Grand Slam title, her 2nd Serena Slam and the accomplishment of being the oldest woman to win a grand slam singles title.
She is inarguably the greatest women’s tennis player on the tour.
And, after this fortnight, she’s possibly the greatest women’s tennis player of all time.
