5.
Novak Djokovic obviously played the best tennis, considering he was the champion on the men’s side. However, with the way he has been playing tennis this year, it isn’t exactly a surprise to see him in this position.

Richard Gasquet played the best tennis during this fortnight and made his first Wimbledon semifinal since 2007. The Frenchman played an incredible match against the reigning French Open champion Stan Wawrinka, which should receive a nod for the match of the tournament. Unfortunately for Gasquet, he had to play a recharged Djokovic after the World No. 1 nearly fell to the big-serving South African Kevin Anderson.

Gasquet’s one-handed backhand is a thing of beauty and rivaled Stan Wawrinka’s stroke during their marathon match. This performance should give him the confidence to do more in the coming tournaments.

As for the bad side, as soon as you say, “worst male performance” at Wimbledon, many will say Rafael Nadal. Yet, we need to look a little harder here to determine who really was worse. Ever since making back-to-back finals in 2010 and 2011, the Spaniard has struggled mightily.

He has not played well and therefore, not many probably expected him to have a deep run here. Granted, you didn’t think he would lose in the second round, but Dustin Brown played a fantastic match and found his rhythm.

Meanwhile, Grigor Dimitrov fell after getting crushed by Richard Gasquet in the third round. Of course, Gasquet had a career tournament, but Dimitrov didn’t even put up a fight on his best surface. The Bulgarian made it to the semifinals in 2014 and with the loss falls way down to No. 16 in the rankings.
. Writer. Lob and Smash. BRANDON ROERTGEN
