CiCi Bellis upsets world No. 6 Agnieszka Radwańska at the Dubai Tennis Championships. She earns herself a quarterfinals appearance.
CiCi Bellis does the impossible at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
The 17-year-old American tennis player is the youngest competitor in Dubai this week. She stuns the world No. 6, Angieszka Radwanska, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

Bellis is the current world No. 70 on the WTA Tour.
She saw success in 2016 when she advanced to the third round of the US Open. Her 2017 tour was slowed by a hip injury in the early weeks of the season, but the young American tennis player is back and ready to play.
Radwanska appeared to take back control of the match in the second set, throwing off the American’s pace of play. Bellis, however, set the tone in the third set and did not let up toward the end. She closed the match winning the final four games.
The upset by Bellis is just one of many to occur this week in Dubai. Karolina Pliskova and Dominika Cibulkova were both upset in the round of 32 and No. 5 seeded, Garbine Muguruza, was forced to retire due to injury. The string of upsets to top-seeded players makes the path for both underdogs such as Bellis and the No. 1 seed, Angelique Kerber, more possible.
Catherine Cartan “CiCi” Bellis now faces Caroline Wozniacki in a quarterfinals match. Wozniacki is playing fantastic tennis, coming off a strong week in Doha at the Qatar Total Open, and now having won his first three matches in Dubai. Bellis will need to pull off another upset in the quarterfinals at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
