Jack Sock, John Isner rally in Paris Masters openers

Jack Sock and John Isner each rallied in their men’s singles openers at the 2017 Paris Masters. Both managed strong third set comebacks.
Jack Sock was near defeat against British No. 3 Kyle Edmund during his Paris Masters opener. The American roared from down 0-4 in his third set to win his opening match.
After tiebreaks in each of the final two sets, Sock rallies for the win, taking his meeting with Edmund 4-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5).

Both Sock and Edmund were searching for a strong start at the Paris Masters. Each has seen both ups and downs on the 2017 ATP World Tour. Sock, however, will have the opportunity to make a deep run from here on out at the ATP event.

The veteran American tennis star has had a strong year on the ATP World Tour. With two ATP singles titles to his name on the year, he has risen in the rankings to the world No. 14 ranking. He is the ninth seeded player this week in Paris.
Isner, Sock, and Sam Querrey have all had their moments throughout the year for American men’s singles tennis. While Querrey had the best chance of the three to qualify for the ATP Finals in London, he unfortunately splashes out of Paris in his opening round match.

The two Americans await the remaining Wednesday matches for their next matchups. Elsewhere at the 2017 Paris Masters, Rafael Nadal wins his opener, securing the year-end world No. 1 ranking. It is the fourth time in Nadal’s career that he will end the year as the top ranked player in men’s singles tennis.

Action continues throughout the week at the 2017 Paris Masters. Jack Sock, John Isner, and others will vie for glory at the end of year tournament. Several players remain in contention for the final two spots at the ATP Finals in London. David Goffin, who is in possession of the final qualifying spot is also in action in Paris on Wednesday.
