ATP Rankings Update: John Isner jumps into Top 10

John Isner jumps in the ATP rankings this week after his 2018 Miami Open title. It’s his first career Masters 1000 title win.

American tennis veteran John Isner moves up eight places in the men’s singles rankings this week. His title win at the 2018 Miami Open does wonders for him on the ATP World Tour. After a slow start to the year, the American is now back into the ATP Top 10. He has previously reached the world No. 9 ranking in men’s singles earlier in his career.

Now, Isner is making headlines again. He is the top-ranked American men’s tennis player, ahead of both Jack Sock and Sam Querrey. Isner will look to maintain his newfound momentum in the coming weeks on the ATP World Tour.

Defeating Alexander Zverev in the Miami Open finals, Isner is back where he needs to be. He saw unexpected early round defeats in his action leading into the Masters 1000 event. The Miami title makes it 13 career ATP singles titles for Isner. Last year, he earned two singles titles. One came in Atlanta and the other in Newport. Winning the Miami Open puts him in a solid position moving forward on the 2018 ATP World Tour. He is without a doubt someone to watch throughout the entirety of the year.

Rafael Nadal remains atop the men’s singles rankings with Roger Federer right behind him. Health is still the primary factor determining any top player’s chances on the 2018 ATP World Tour.

Despite being away for several weeks, Nadal is back in the world No. 1 position ahead of Federer. The Spanish superstar has been rehabbing and dealing with a lingering leg injury. Federer, who has opened the year in fantastic form, maintains a large lead over world No. 3 Marin Cilic. Both Nadal and Federer are outpacing everyone else in men’s singles tennis right now even if they take time away from the courts. The ATP rankings ought to see several shakeups in the positions chasing the top two players though. Isner is one of those players vying for a top position.
